Painter Cynthia Rosen

Welcom to part 1 of my interview with palette knife painter Cynthia Rosen.

This interview ran long, so I’ve broken it into two parts for listening convenience. Part 2 is also available now at this link. I got a lot out of my chat with Cynthia, and I think you will too.

In blazing her own art career path, I’m convinced that much of Cynthia’s success comes from assessing opportunities to make sure they are worth pursuing financially.

It’s very easy for emerging artists to want to grab onto every opportunity that comes along like it’s the only brass ring on the carousel, but developing discernment is essential. I think get a lot out of Cynthia’s tough love on the necessity of approaching your career with a business mindset.

Cynthia Rosen moved to Vermont for 40 years ago, but has fairly recently begun to see her surroundings with the eyes of a painter. While she has always loved the richness of the landscape about her, she nows loves to paint it.  Recently Cynthia started a group called VEPAS - Vermont en plein air society  with a few others around her.

Known primarily for her colorful and semi-abstracted palette knife plein air paintings, Rosen has recently been endeavoring to turn her home into a working studio. This has afforded her an easy opportunity to not only take up studio painting but also to explore a wide variety of other medium, both day and night.

Cynthia has been featured in magazines such the Plein Air Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine, the American Art Collector and Fine Art Connoisseur, as well as on such reputable online journals as The Outdoor Painter, the Artists Road, Arts Illustrated, and Fine Art Connoisseur’s Fine Art Today.

She has also won numerous awards at juried and/or invitational plein air events for her colorful and unique style of painting. She is on the faculty at the Plein Air Convention, been featured on Eric Rhoads Facetime Live, and has had two instructional videos produced by Streamline Art Videos.
